PhysWEST is the new program in a series ofWorkshops forEngineering andScienceTransfers – orientation workshops that integrate transfer students into their discipline of choice. If you are a junior transfer student interested in a phyical science -related major at UCSC, you are invited to PhysWEST. We are looking for ~20 incoming transfer students to participate in this project, which will take place over two days just before the STARS Academic Success Workshops begin in September.

 

Why come to PhysWEST?

  • Learn physical concepts relevant to a broad range of disciplines while engaging in the real process of science.

  • Learn about internships, research, and other opportunities for you at UCSC.

  • Meet other incoming transfer students who share your interests!

  • FREE room and board in UCSC’s Early Arrival Program for your participation in PhysWEST (but we cannot pay your room and board for the STARS workshops afterward).

 

To be selected to participate in PhysWEST:

  • You should be an incoming transfer student, interested in pursuing a physical science major at UCSC.

  • You should be participating in the STARS Academic Success Workshops on xx-xx September.

  • You should be available to participate in PhysWEST on the evening of15 Septemberand the days16-17 September, before moving on to the STARS program. If you are moving in to the UCSC dorms early for the STARS workshops, you can move in even earlier for PysWEST.
